Crafts of Morocco is a great diversity. Animal or vegetable fiber, wood, metal, clay or stone, craft product has always adapted incentives and the cultural and common needs that define its real function and its true value.

Moroccan craftsmanship and a history of knowledge to make ancestral. The first known inhabitants of the Morocco, the Berbers were the precursors in the craft field especially in the work of wool (carpet), iron and silver (jewellery), various utensils and clay (pottery). After the Islamization and the coming of the Arabs, other forms of craft developed: work of copper (various utensils, tables), wood sorrel, the Alfa and clay (pottery). This craft covers virtually all of the Morocco and each region has its own specialties, from raw materials which are in abundance. But the best known cities for their crafts are Fez (leather, copper, silver, gold, fabrics), Marrakech (leather, copper, carpets), Essaouira (wood, rugs, silver) and Rabat-Salé (pottery).

It is undeniable wealth and a surprising variety both forms, techniques and settings. This wealth is enhanced by the modesty of materials which constitutes this art and which are drawn from the surrounding environment. The diversity of climatic conditions, natural resources and different civilization of Morocco, as well as the mixing of influences with the neighbouring countries, explain that she has inherited a wide range of specialty craft.
